YouTube Premium continues with multiple pricing options in India as YouTube TV introduces flexible streaming tiers
YouTube TV has introduced a major update to its subscription model, rolling out genre-specific plans designed to give viewers greater control over what they watch and how much they pay for streaming services.
The move marks a shift away from the platform’s earlier single-bundle system, which required subscribers to pay for a large package of channels regardless of their viewing preferences. For several years, YouTube TV offered only one base plan priced at $82.99 per month, providing access to a wide range of live television channels and on-demand content across sports, entertainment and other genres. However, the model often meant that users were paying for channels they did not regularly watch.
With the new rollout, YouTube TV is moving toward interest-based packages that allow subscribers to select plans aligned with specific content categories. One of the key offerings is a sports plan, priced at $64.99 per month, with an introductory price of $54.99 for new users. The package offers access to a wide catalogue of live sports programming, including coverage from major sports broadcasters.
Another option is the entertainment plan, which features networks focused on movies, lifestyle and general entertainment content. This plan is priced at $54.99 per month, with a promotional price of $44.99 for new subscribers.
In India, YouTube Premium continues to be available across multiple subscription tiers. YouTube Premium Lite is priced at ₹89 per month and offers ad-free viewing with limited background playback and download capabilities. The standard individual Premium plan costs ₹149 per month and includes ad-free viewing, access to YouTube Music and download features. The family plan is priced at ₹299 per month for up to five additional members, while the student plan is available at ₹89 per month.
Prepaid individual options are also offered at ₹159 per month or ₹459 for a quarterly subscription.
