JioHotstar has entered Nepal through a partnership with local platform DGO, expanding its international presence as it looks to reach audiences beyond India through a combination of direct launches and local partnerships.

Under the agreement, DGO will introduce a dedicated JioHotstar section on its platform, offering a range of Indian entertainment, including films, original series, television shows, reality programmes and kids’ content.

The launch catalogue features films such as Bhediya, 12th Fail, Kesari Chapter 2, Super 30 and Welcome to the Jungle. JioHotstar Originals available to Nepali viewers include Hunkkaar, Pritam & Pedro, Ali Baba Aur 40 Bhoot, Special Ops and Chiraiya.

The content line-up also includes popular programmes such as Bigg Boss, Koffee with Karan and India Ka Top 1 Percent, alongside selected regional programming available in Hindi.

JioHotstar will be accessible through DGO’s Mobile and Plus subscription plans, with introductory pricing starting at NPR 249 per month. Users can access the service through DGO’s website and app on iOS and Android devices, Android TV and smart TVs.

Local content and international sports complement the offering

Alongside JioHotstar’s catalogue, subscribers will continue to have access to DGO’s existing collection of Nepali films and television shows. DGO also plans to add a new Nepali film every week, combining international entertainment with locally relevant programming.

The platform’s offering will extend beyond films and television, with subscribers also gaining access to live international sporting events, including LaLiga, MotoGP and the Carabao Cup.

Amit Malhotra, head of international business at JioStar, said the expansion builds on the demand for Indian entertainment among international audiences.

He added that Nepal represents an important market, where audiences have followed Indian films, television shows and talent for generations. The partnership with DGO is intended to combine JioHotstar’s content library with the accessibility of a local platform, making the service available to households across the country.

Roshan Niraula, chief executive officer of DGO, described the collaboration as a milestone for the platform and Nepal’s entertainment industry. He said the partnership would broaden DGO’s offering through Indian films and shows, weekly additions to its Nepali film catalogue and live international sports, with pricing tailored to local consumers.

JioHotstar continues international expansion

The Nepal launch follows JioHotstar’s entry into the UK, Canada and Singapore, as well as its more recent expansion into the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

The company is pursuing multiple routes to international growth, combining direct market launches with partnerships that allow it to distribute its content through established local platforms. The DGO collaboration adds Nepal to this expanding network, bringing its Indian entertainment catalogue to another market with an established audience for Indian content.
