Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. (BCCL), publisher of The Times of India and The Economic Times, has strengthened its leadership team with the appointments of Ruchira Kanwal as Business Head – 1838 and Madhurita Sengupta as Head – ET Product, Marketing & Events for The Economic Times brand.
Kanwal brings over two decades of experience in building and scaling premium brands across fashion, weddings, travel and hospitality. She joins BCCL from RPSG Media, where she served as Business Head. Prior to that, she held leadership roles at Condé Nast India and began her career with The Oberoi Group, gaining expertise in luxury hospitality, customer engagement and relationship management.
In her new role, Kanwal will be responsible for building and expanding the 1838 business, working closely with internal stakeholders to develop an integrated ecosystem spanning community, events, media, magazines, partnerships and experiences. She will also focus on establishing 1838 as a distinctive cultural platform and a scalable premium business for BCCL.
Meanwhile, Madhurita Sengupta has joined as Head – ET Product, Marketing & Events for The Economic Times brand. A marketing and business leader with more than 20 years of experience, Sengupta most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer at JioBlackRock Investment Advisers.
Before that, she led Digital Sales for the SMB Business at Amazon Web Services (India & SAARC) and has held leadership positions at DBS Bank, Vodafone India and HSBC.
At The Economic Times, Sengupta will lead the conceptualisation, development, marketing and execution of high-impact products and events, while driving the creation and scaling of differentiated monetisation opportunities. She will also focus on accelerating brand growth, enhancing reader engagement and strengthening advertiser relationships through innovative marketing strategies.
