WPP has appointed Tyler Turnbull, currently Global CEO of McCann, as the Chief Executive Officer of WPP Creative. He is expected to join the company in early 2027, succeeding Jon Cook.
Turnbull brings extensive leadership experience in the global advertising industry, with a track record of transforming agencies, strengthening client relationships, building high-performing teams and driving creative excellence alongside business growth.
Before joining WPP, Turnbull served as Global CEO of McCann. Prior to that, he spent 12 years at FCB, where he led businesses across Canada, North America and the global network, helping drive sustained creative recognition and growth.
In his new role, Turnbull will lead WPP Creative’s integrated creative offering, bringing together the group’s leading creative agencies and capabilities across media, data, production, commerce and technology. The focus will be on strengthening collaboration across WPP’s creative brands and making its broader capabilities more accessible to clients.
The appointment comes as WPP looks to deepen the integration of its creative capabilities with its wider technology and marketing offerings. Through WPP Open, the group’s AI-powered marketing platform, WPP Creative aims to help clients translate intelligence into ideas, build influence and drive measurable business growth in an increasingly AI-driven landscape.
Cindy Rose, CEO of WPP, said Turnbull’s appointment reflects the company’s ambition to bring together its strengths for clients, place creativity at the centre of growth and establish a new benchmark for the industry. She described him as a leader with the global perspective and creative conviction needed to guide WPP Creative through its next phase.
Commenting on his appointment, Turnbull said his ambition is to set a new standard for the industry by combining WPP’s collective capabilities with the distinct identities and cultures of its creative brands. He also emphasised the importance of nurturing creative talent and delivering meaningful business growth for clients.
Turnbull said he looks forward to working with Rose, Cook and the agency leadership teams to unlock WPP’s full potential for clients and create an environment where talent can produce its best work.
