Michael Macfarlane Associates (MMA), the London-headquartered global reputation strategy firm, has appointed Joe Wallen as Partner and Head of India, as the firm continues to expand its footprint across India and the broader Asian region.

Wallen brings more than a decade of experience spanning media, strategic communications and strategic consulting in India. Prior to joining MMA, he served as Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Montfort South Asia, South Asia Bureau Chief at The Daily Telegraph, Co-Founder and Host of The Diplomat’s Beyond the Indus podcast, and South Asia Consultant at Teneo.

Based in Mumbai, Wallen will spearhead MMA’s South Asia business, working with founders, business families, investors, corporates and institutions on reputation strategy. His remit will also include supporting international clients seeking to operate and engage effectively within the Indian market.

Commenting on the appointment, Michael Macfarlane, Founder of MMA, said: “Our clients are building businesses, investment platforms, institutions and legacies of consequence on a global scale. India is central to the future of what we are building. Joe brings the experience, relationships and cultural fluency to help Indian founders, families and organisations operate globally, and to help international capital engage with India properly.”

Alongside his new role at MMA, Wallen serves as Chairman of the British Business Group in India, the UK Government’s on-ground networking and business arm.

The appointment comes as MMA continues to build its international presence and strengthen its capabilities in reputation strategy and communications. The firm currently operates across eight international offices and advises private families, capital holders, businesses and institutions on reputation strategy and communications.
