Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&Co.) has appointed Terra Carmichael as Senior Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, effective December 2.
In her new role, Carmichael will lead the company’s Corporate Affairs organisation, overseeing global external communications and media relations, internal communications, government relations, community affairs and the Red Tab Foundation. She will report to Michelle Gass, President and CEO of Levi Strauss & Co., and join the company’s executive leadership team.
Carmichael brings more than 25 years of experience in communications, reputation management and organisational transformation across global companies.
She joins LS&Co. from Lyft, where she served as Vice President, Communications, reporting to the CEO and as a member of the executive leadership team. At Lyft, she led the company’s communications functions and developed its global communications strategy across corporate reputation, brand and product communications, executive visibility, policy communications, owned content, social media and culture.
Before Lyft, Carmichael was Chief Communications Officer at StockX, where she established the communications function during a period of rapid growth and international expansion. She previously led internal and external communications at Eventbrite through its initial public offering (IPO) and held senior leadership positions at Yahoo! and other high-growth technology companies.
Commenting on the appointment, Gass said effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders had become increasingly important.
“It has never been more important to have effective and considered engagement with our full range of internal and external stakeholders,” Gass said. “Terra’s passion for culture, storytelling and the Levi’s® brand will make her an outstanding addition to LS&Co.”
