Diageo North America has appointed Sebnem Erim as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), bringing on board an experienced marketing leader with a background spanning PepsiCo and AB InBev.

In her new role, Erim will oversee marketing for Diageo’s extensive portfolio of spirits and beverage brands, including Tanqueray, Smirnoff, Captain Morgan and Guinness. Her appointment comes at a time when the company is navigating challenging market conditions in North America and seeking to strengthen the competitiveness of its offerings.

Erim announced the development in a LinkedIn post, expressing enthusiasm about the opportunity to help shape the next chapter for some of the world’s most iconic brands. Diageo confirmed her appointment but declined to offer further comment.

The leadership change comes as Diageo works to address softer marketing conditions and changing consumer demand in the North American market. In May 2026, Diageo CEO Sir Dave Lewis identified North America as the company’s biggest challenge, noting the need to make its offerings more competitive.

With experience across leading global consumer brands, Erim brings expertise in marketing and brand leadership to the role as Diageo looks to strengthen its position in the region.

Her professional background includes a long association with PepsiCo, where she held marketing leadership positions across global brands and regional markets, alongside experience at other major consumer goods companies. Her appointment adds to Diageo North America’s leadership as the business works to respond to evolving consumer preferences and market pressures.

Diageo, headquartered in London, has a portfolio of around 200 brands spanning spirits and other beverage categories. The company’s North American business remains a key focus as it seeks to maintain the strength of its established brands and improve its market competitiveness.
