Global business and financial information giant Bloomberg has appointed Lovejeet Alexander as Director – New Economy, reinforcing its leadership bench as it amplifies conversations about structural shifts in markets, policy and economic change. Alexander’s appointment is part of Bloomberg’s broader strategy to deepen engagement with business and government leaders across India and internationally.

The New Economy remit focuses on topics shaping future economic landscapes — from digital transformation and geopolitical shifts to innovation ecosystems and sustainability. In his new role, Alexander will advance the Bloomberg New Economy initiative from New Delhi and collaborate with the company’s global network ahead of marquee events such as the 2026 Bloomberg New Economy Forum, scheduled to take place in Delhi later this year — a testament to India’s growing influence in global economic discourse.

Career and Expertise of New Director

Alexander brings extensive experience in public affairs, strategic communications and alliance building. Before joining Bloomberg, he was Head of Public Affairs, Corporate Communications and Strategic Alliances at the Learning Leadership Foundation, where he focused on shaping narratives and curating leadership dialogues spanning technology, education, media and policy spheres.

Earlier in his career, he served as Consulting Editor at India News Business and held leadership roles including Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive at founderINDIA. His background also includes senior roles in corporate communications at firms like GreenCheese, Perfect Relations, Anand Group of Industries, and editorial experience with leading media houses such as Hindustan Times, Dainik Jagran and Times Group publications.

Vision at the Intersection of Policy and Markets

In his own announcement, Alexander said he was “pleased to share that I have joined Bloomberg as Director, New Economy,” adding that Bloomberg’s work “at the intersection of markets, policy, and global economic transformation sets a global benchmark for independent, fact-based journalism and convening.” He expressed enthusiasm about contributing to the initiative from India and engaging with leaders across the public and private sectors, highlighting the significance of the upcoming New Economy Forum in New Delhi as a pivotal moment for global economic dialogue.

Alexander’s role is expected to involve building platforms for thought leadership, moderating high-level dialogues and fostering cross-sector alliances that reflect the evolving dynamics of technology, governance and economic strategy. Bloomberg’s emphasis on trusted, data-driven insights positions the New Economy initiative as a key node for conversations on growth, innovation and institutional change, with Alexander playing a central part in shaping those discussions from the Indian subcontinent.

Implications for Bloomberg’s India Footprint

With this appointment, Bloomberg underscores India’s emergence as a strategic hub for global economic narratives, particularly as markets grapple with rapid technological shifts, geopolitical realignments and sustainability imperatives. Industry watchers say that an India-based New Economy leadership role reflects the country’s rising weight in shaping global policy debates and investment flows, especially ahead of major forums hosted domestically.

Bloomberg’s move to onboard Alexander aligns with broader trends of media and information firms positioning India at the forefront of international economic discourse, bridging insights from Asia with global policymaking and market intelligence.
