Adobe has appointed Shamik Basu as Vice President of its Creative Products Group in India, reinforcing its focus on scaling AI-led creative technologies from the country.
Based in Noida, Basu will head Adobe India’s engineering and product management teams, collaborating closely with global leadership across key product lines. He will report to Ely Greenfield and join the company’s India leadership team, with a mandate to drive innovation and execution across its creative portfolio.
In his new role, Basu will play a key part in advancing products such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and Adobe’s generative AI platform Firefly—central to the company’s push into AI-powered creativity and productivity tools.
Announcing the appointment, Greenfield underscored India’s strategic importance to Adobe’s global operations, noting that teams in the country are already contributing significantly to innovation across design, imaging, video, and AI-led offerings. He added that Basu’s leadership will help strengthen local capabilities while aligning with global priorities.
Basu brings over three decades of experience in building large-scale software platforms. Prior to this, he was with Microsoft, where he led initiatives focused on performance, reliability, and AI-powered experiences for global customers.
Commenting on his appointment, Basu said the rapid shift towards AI is reshaping the creative technology landscape and expressed enthusiasm about contributing to Adobe’s next phase of growth.
The appointment comes as Adobe continues to expand its presence in India, which has evolved from an R&D centre established in 1997 into a major hub spanning product engineering, design, sales, and customer experience. With over 8,000 employees, India is now the company’s second-largest workforce globally and a key contributor to its innovation pipeline, particularly in generative AI and digital content creation.
The move signals Adobe’s continued investment in strengthening local leadership as it scales its AI-native platforms and deepens India’s role in its global product strategy.
