Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has secured the media rights for the Asian Games 2026, scheduled to be held in Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026.

The multi-sport event will be broadcast across Sony Sports Network channels and streamed on Sony LIV, covering audiences across India and the subcontinent.

Organised under the aegis of the Olympic Council of Asia, the Asian Games is one of the largest sporting events in the region, featuring athletes from across Asia competing in over 40 disciplines. The 2026 edition will include sports such as cricket, tennis, esports, kabaddi and sepak takraw, alongside newer additions like mixed martial arts and surfing.

India heads into the upcoming edition on the back of its strongest-ever performance at the previous Games, where it secured a record 107 medals—fueling growing interest in multi-sport events across the country.

Commenting on the development, Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head – Sports and International at SPNI, said the Asian Games continues to be a significant platform for showcasing sporting excellence and national pride. He added that the inclusion of cricket and India’s recent performance have further amplified excitement, with SPNI aiming to deliver immersive coverage across platforms.

Husain Al-Musallam, Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, welcomed the partnership, noting that the agreement marks a new phase in the distribution of the Asian Games across the Indian subcontinent.

With this acquisition, SPNI further strengthens its sports portfolio, expanding its offering of premium multi-sport content across television and digital platforms.
