Blurb: The chipmaker strengthens government engagement, brand strategy and advanced technology planning with key leadership appointments across three core functions.

Intel Corporation on Monday announced a series of senior leadership appointments across three key functions—government affairs, marketing and communications, and advanced technology strategy—as the semiconductor major moves to strengthen engagement with policymakers, customers and global stakeholders while advancing its long-term growth roadmap.

The appointments include Robin Colwell as senior vice president of government affairs, Annie Shea Weckesser as senior vice president and chief marketing and communications officer, and Pushkar Ranade as interim chief technology officer.

Robin Colwell Appointed Senior Vice President, Government Affairs

Robin Colwell has joined Intel as senior vice president of government affairs, taking charge of the company’s global engagement with policymakers, regulators and industry leaders. In her new role, Colwell will focus on advancing Intel’s strategic priorities at the intersection of public policy, technology and manufacturing, particularly as the company navigates trade, national security and regulatory issues across key markets.

Colwell most recently served as deputy assistant to U.S. President Donald J. Trump and deputy director of the National Economic Council, where she worked on policy development across sectors of the U.S. economy. Prior to that, she advised clients on telecommunications, technology and cybersecurity policy at the BGR Group. She will be based in Washington, D.C.

“Robin’s broad experience and deep understanding of complex legal and policy environments will be invaluable to Intel,” said Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan. “She has a rare ability to navigate dynamic policy environments and deliver outcomes that benefit businesses, policymakers, and the communities they serve.”

Her appointment follows the recent naming of James Chew as vice president of Intel Government Technologies. Chew, who brings experience in government contracting and advanced technology markets, will work closely with Colwell to further strengthen Intel’s government affairs capabilities and its position as a trusted partner to the U.S. government.

Annie Shea Weckesser to Lead Integrated Marketing and Communications

Intel has also appointed Annie Shea Weckesser as senior vice president and chief marketing and communications officer (CMCO). In this role, she will lead a newly integrated global marketing and communications organisation, bringing together corporate reputation management, brand strategy and market engagement under a unified structure.

Weckesser joins Intel from AI company SambaNova, where she served as chief marketing officer and played a key role in building the company’s brand and driving demand for its AI platforms. Her earlier experience includes leading U.S. marketing and communications at electric vehicle maker NIO Inc. and nearly a decade in global marketing and communications roles at Cisco. She will be based in Santa Clara.

“Intel’s future depends on how well we connect with our customers, partners, and stakeholders—and how they experience our products, brand, and innovation,” Tan said. “Annie has the experience and vision to bring these elements together in ways that move markets and inspire teams. Her leadership will be essential as we sharpen our message and position Intel for long-term success.”

Pushkar Ranade Named Interim Chief Technology Officer

In addition to his current responsibilities as chief of staff to the CEO, Pushkar Ranade has been appointed interim chief technology officer. In this expanded role, he will help shape Intel’s advanced technology strategy and oversee the consolidation and development of emerging technologies—including quantum computing, advanced interconnects and novel materials—within the newly formed CTO Office.

Ranade has played a key role during his tenure at Intel in defining, developing and scaling multiple Intel Foundry process technology nodes for high-volume manufacturing. He holds a PhD in engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a widely published inventor with deep expertise in semiconductor device physics and transistor process integration. He is based in Santa Clara, California.

“It is vital that Intel incubate and develop strategically important emerging technologies that will serve as building blocks for computing systems and platforms of the future,” Tan said. “Pushkar is intimately familiar with our Products strategy as well as our Foundry strategy, and I am delighted that he will work closely with me to develop our advanced technology strategy and roadmap.”

Intel said the leadership changes are aimed at reinforcing its strategic focus as it seeks to strengthen its manufacturing footprint, expand government and industry partnerships, and advance innovation across next-generation semiconductor technologies.
