Parle-G has unveiled a new Lohri-themed film that turns the spotlight on questions of belonging, migration and family priorities, set against the backdrop of a Punjabi household preparing for the festival.

A family debate at the heart of the story

Set in a village in Punjab, the film centres on a family grappling with a familiar dilemma — whether to move abroad in pursuit of better opportunities or stay rooted at home. Conversations around paperwork, children’s futures and prospects unfold organically within the household, reflecting discussions common to many families across the region.

As preparations for Lohri continue, the festival becomes a moment of pause, encouraging the family to reflect on what progress, happiness and fulfilment truly mean.

Everyday moments over spectacle

Eschewing grand visuals, the narrative is built around everyday interactions, intergenerational exchanges and shared moments around the Lohri bonfire. The film positions Lohri not merely as a ritual, but as a time for collective reflection and emotional grounding.

By focusing on intimate conversations and shared traditions, the film underscores how personal choices are often shaped by emotional ties and cultural roots rather than material aspirations alone.

Brand values woven into the narrative

Commenting on the campaign, Mayank Shah, vice president – Marketing, Parle Products, said: “Lohri is a festival that represents hope, gratitude, and togetherness. These are values that Parle-G has always stood for. Through this film, we wanted to tell a story that feels real and relatable, where happiness is found not in leaving things behind, but in nurturing what truly matters. We believe that when you find joy in the happiness of others, that is where real fulfillment lies and that thought is at the heart of Parle-G.”

A closing note of continuity and reassurance

The film concludes with the family coming together around the Lohri fire, reinforcing themes of continuity, reassurance and shared values. Using the festival setting as a narrative anchor, the campaign reflects on how deeply personal decisions are influenced by a sense of home and belonging.

The Lohri campaign has been conceptualised by Thought Blurb Communications.
