Malaysia Airlines has unveiled a specially designed aircraft in collaboration with Mumbai Indians, marking a unique crossover between aviation and cricket fandom. The themed livery, featured on the airline’s Airbus A330-300, brings together the franchise’s signature blue and gold with the airline’s visual identity.
The aircraft design incorporates the Mumbai Indians emblem and its iconic Chakra, with a dynamic pulse motif symbolising motion and momentum. Flowing patterns across the fuselage represent the team’s expanding global fanbase, positioning the aircraft as a flying tribute to sport and cultural connection.
The unveiling was accompanied by a digital film capturing the spirit of Mumbai, its cricket culture, and the airline’s Malaysian hospitality.
Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer of Airline Business at Malaysia Aviation Group, said India remains a key growth market for the airline. He noted that the collaboration reflects Malaysia Airlines’ strategy to integrate cultural relevance into its brand experience while strengthening regional connectivity.
A Mumbai Indians spokesperson added that the partnership extends the team’s presence beyond the game, allowing its identity to travel globally and connect with fans across geographies.
The aircraft is expected to operate on key international routes later this year, linking destinations across India, Asia, and other global markets.
The initiative builds on Malaysia Airlines’ broader efforts to boost inbound tourism and enhance its network, including its Bonus Side Trip programme, which allows international transit passengers via Kuala Lumpur to explore additional Malaysian destinations at no extra base fare.
The collaboration also aligns with national tourism initiatives such as Visit Malaysia 2026, reinforcing Malaysia’s positioning as a preferred travel destination while expanding the airline’s visibility in key markets like India.
