Honasa Consumer Limited has elevated Vipul Maheshwari to the role of chief product and technology officer (CPTO), placing its product, technology, engineering and analytics functions under his leadership as the beauty and personal care company advances its AI-led transformation.
Maheshwari, who has spent the past six years at Honasa building its data and product capabilities, will lead efforts to integrate AI-powered solutions into business processes. The company is looking to move beyond conventional automation towards agentic AI systems that can coordinate multi-step workflows, support decision-making and execute tasks under human oversight.
The company’s technology strategy focuses on developing intelligent workflows and AI agents to simplify complex processes, improve operational efficiency and embed intelligence into everyday business operations. The aim is to connect existing data and product infrastructure with AI-driven tools that can be scaled across the organisation.
“AI and agentic systems represent a fundamental shift in how businesses will operate, moving from tools that provide information to intelligent systems that can execute workflows, connect decisions and drive outcomes,” Maheshwari said.
He added that Honasa’s existing data and product capabilities provide a foundation for an AI-first approach to business problem-solving, with a focus on enabling AI agents to support multi-step processes while maintaining appropriate safeguards.
Varun Alagh, co-founder and chief executive officer of Honasa, said AI presents an opportunity to rethink how the company builds and operates its business. He added that Maheshwari’s experience across data and product, along with his understanding of the organisation, positions him to lead its next phase of technology development.
Alagh also described the elevation as part of Honasa’s approach to developing leadership internally and building capabilities to support its future growth.
Before his appointment as CPTO, Maheshwari worked on strengthening Honasa’s data and product capabilities, identifying opportunities to apply technology and analytics to business challenges. He holds a master’s degree in mathematics and computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
Prior to joining Honasa, he held roles at Delhivery and Global Analytics India Pvt. Ltd, where he worked on data-driven business solutions and analytics-led problem-solving.
The appointment comes as Honasa looks to expand the application of AI across its portfolio of beauty and personal care brands. While the company has outlined its focus on agentic AI and connected workflows, it has not disclosed specific deployment timelines, investment figures or quantified efficiency targets for the initiatives.
