Dabur India has announced that Mohit Malhotra will step down as its Global Chief Executive Officer and Whole-time Director, ending a 32-year association with the FMCG major. His resignation will take effect on November 13, 2026, following his decision to pursue a new leadership opportunity overseas.
In his resignation letter to the Board, Malhotra confirmed that he had accepted an overseas leadership position, with his new role scheduled to commence on November 16, 2026. He also requested the Board to relieve him before that date, assuring the company of a smooth transition and completion of all handover responsibilities.
According to the company's regulatory filing, Malhotra cited personal interests as the reason for his departure.
Malhotra's exit marks the culmination of a long career at Dabur, which began in 1994 when he joined the company as a management trainee. Over the years, he took on several leadership responsibilities across its domestic and international operations, eventually rising to the position of Global CEO.
His international leadership journey began in 2001 when he took charge as Business Head of the European Union. In 2004, he moved to Dubai as Head of Marketing for Dabur's International Business, before being appointed CEO of Dabur International in 2008.
He subsequently returned to lead the India business as its CEO and was appointed Global CEO in April 2019. In this role, he oversaw the company's overall business strategy, growth priorities and international expansion across consumer health, personal care and food categories.
From a Rs 1,250-crore business to a global enterprise
Reflecting on his 32-year journey in his resignation letter, Malhotra highlighted the scale of Dabur's transformation during his association with the company. He noted that the business had grown from a Rs 1,250-crore enterprise into a transnational organisation with operations in more than 100 countries and revenues exceeding Rs 13,000 crore.
He also pointed to his contribution towards building brands and businesses into multi-crore profit centres while leading teams across the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and India.
Malhotra expressed gratitude to the Burman family, the Board and his colleagues for their support throughout his tenure. He described the move as an opportunity to take on a fresh challenge at this stage of his career and expressed confidence in Dabur's leadership team, business strategy and organisational legacy.
His departure marks an important leadership transition for Dabur, which has continued to strengthen its position in India's FMCG sector while expanding its international footprint. The company has not yet announced a successor or shared details of the arrangements for the next phase of leadership.
