Pocket FM is reportedly shutting down its microdrama platform, Pocket TV, as competition in the fast-growing short-form drama segment continues to intensify.
According to media reports, the company has decided to discontinue the platform after evaluating its performance and strategic relevance within the broader business.
A company spokesperson, quoted in media reports, said Pocket TV was introduced as a beta product to explore opportunities in the emerging microdrama category and has not been a significant contributor to Pocket FM's overall business.
"As with any product experiment, we periodically evaluate performance and strategic fit, and any decisions related to Pocket TV are part of that normal process," the spokesperson reportedly said.
The company added that audio remains the core of its business, accounting for the overwhelming majority of its revenue and user engagement. Pocket FM said it will continue to focus on expanding its audio storytelling business and scaling the category across global markets.
The move comes at a time when the microdrama space has become increasingly crowded, with several platforms competing for audiences through short-form, mobile-first video content.
