Rajiv Aggarwal, Samsung India’s Head of Public Affairs and ESG, has resigned from the company after nearly four years in the role, according to people familiar with the development.

Aggarwal is currently serving his final week at Samsung India. The reason behind his resignation has not been disclosed.

In his role, Aggarwal was responsible for overseeing Samsung’s engagement with the Indian government and navigating the company’s public policy and regulatory priorities in the country. His mandate assumed significance as technology and electronics companies increasingly operate amid a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

A former Indian bureaucrat, Aggarwal joined Samsung after stints at global technology companies Meta and Uber. Before moving to Samsung, he served as Meta’s Head of Public Policy in India and South Asia. He had earlier led public policy for India and South Asia at Uber.

During his tenure at Samsung, Aggarwal was involved in the company’s engagement with government and policy stakeholders on issues affecting the technology and electronics sector. Samsung has, in recent times, been among technology companies navigating regulatory developments in India, including government proposals around the pre-installation of state-run applications on smartphones and changes to the electronic-waste recycling framework.

Neither Aggarwal nor Samsung Electronics has publicly commented on his resignation so far.
