The communications industry is mourning the loss of veteran communications professional Bhaskar Majumdar, who passed away on Thursday morning following a prolonged illness. He was a seasoned communications leader with a career spanning 25 years across corporate communications, reputation management and strategic communication.
Over the course of his career, Majumdar worked with several prominent Indian and global organisations. His professional journey included leadership roles such as General Manager, Corporate Communications at Reliance Industries and Manager, Corporate Communications at ESPN Star Sports. He also held positions with leading strategic communication agencies, including APCO Worldwide, Genesis PR, Vaishnavi Corporate Communications and Adfactors PR.
Beyond his corporate roles, Majumdar maintained a strong association with the wider communications and management ecosystem. He served on advisory committees of several management forums and participated in industry award platforms and juries, contributing his experience and perspective to the evaluation of communication and reputation-building work across the sector.
His professional contributions received recognition across multiple industry platforms. A strong advocate of knowledge-sharing and professional development, Majumdar also invested considerable time in mentoring the next generation of communications professionals. He regularly delivered lectures and interacted with students at institutions including the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), India Today Institute, GGSIP University and the Delhi School of Communication.
His passing marks the loss of an experienced voice from India's corporate communications and public relations fraternity. Through a career that combined corporate leadership, strategic counsel, industry engagement and mentorship, Majumdar remained closely connected to the evolving communications landscape and the professionals shaping its future.
The last rites will be held at Lodhi Road Crematorium on September 25 at 6:00 PM.
