Truecaller has launched Truecaller Scam Checker, a new destination on the web and Android app that allows users to check suspicious links, phone numbers and messages for potential scam activity.
The company said the new offering is aimed at extending its scam protection capabilities beyond caller identification and spam blocking. It brings multiple detection and community intelligence features into a single interface, allowing users to investigate potential fraud before responding or taking action.
Through Scam Checker, users can check whether a web link shows signs of malicious or phishing activity, search phone numbers to see signals from Truecaller's detection systems and community, and browse relevant reports on its Scamfeed platform.
Users can also describe a suspicious situation in their own words and receive relevant results, including checks on links or phone numbers mentioned in the query and related community reports.
According to Truecaller, the platform brings together three common elements found in suspicious messages—a phone number, a link and a narrative—and allows users to examine them within the same experience.
"People often sense that something is wrong, but they need a quick way to check before responding," said Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO, Truecaller. "Scam Checker brings together our detection capabilities and what our community has reported so that people can investigate a suspicious link, number or story in one place."
Truecaller said it plans to expand Scam Checker with additional coverage of scam techniques, screenshot uploads for more detailed analysis, user authentication and other capabilities.
The service is initially available in India through the Android app, while the web version is available globally. Truecaller said availability in additional markets and support for iOS will be introduced at a later stage.
Truecaller has 500 million active users globally and has recorded more than one billion downloads since its launch. The company said its systems identified 68 billion spam and fraud calls in 2025.
Headquartered in Stockholm, Truecaller has been publicly listed on Nasdaq Stockholm since October 2021 and is a member of the GSMA.
