Instamart’s 2025 Order Analysis Shows Quick Commerce Expanding from Daily Essentials to High-Value Purchases

Instamart’s latest annual data reveals how quick commerce is evolving into a mainstream shopping channel, spanning groceries, electronics and even gold across metros and Tier-II cities.

Instamart has released the fifth edition of its annual order analysis, How India Instamarted 2025, highlighting a marked shift in how Indian consumers are using quick commerce platforms over the past year.

The report points to an expanding role for instant delivery, moving well beyond last-minute grocery top-ups to include high-value and planned purchases such as smartphones, electronics and precious metals.

From Rs 10 Printouts to Rs 4.3 Lakh Carts

According to the analysis, order values on the platform ranged widely in 2025. The smallest transaction recorded was a Rs 10 printout ordered in Bengaluru, while the highest single cart value touched Rs 4.3 lakh in Hyderabad, largely driven by multiple smartphone purchases.

Repeat usage also intensified over the year. Instamart’s highest-spending customer reportedly spent more than Rs 22 lakh, purchasing a mix of groceries, electronics and gold through the platform.

Bengaluru Leads in Engagement and Tipping

Bengaluru emerged as one of the most engaged markets on the platform. The city recorded high repeat usage and also stood out for generous tipping behaviour, with users collectively tipping delivery partners the most during the year.

Everyday Groceries Still Drive Volume

Despite diversification into new categories, everyday grocery items continued to dominate repeat orders. Milk, eggs, bananas, curd and curry leaves remained among the most frequently ordered products.

Late-night shopping trends showed a preference for packaged snacks and chips across major metros, reinforcing quick commerce’s role in impulse and convenience-driven consumption.

Non-Grocery Categories Gain Momentum

The report highlights strong growth in non-grocery categories, particularly during festive and sale periods. Electronics, grooming products, health supplements and gold saw sharp spikes in demand.

On Dhanteras, gold orders on Instamart reportedly grew more than four times compared to the previous year, underscoring increasing consumer confidence in purchasing high-value items via quick commerce platforms.

Tier-II Cities Show Rapid Growth

Tier-II cities recorded some of the fastest growth rates on the platform. Cities such as Rajkot, Ludhiana and Bhubaneswar posted multi-fold year-on-year increases in order volumes, with health and wellness categories showing especially strong traction.

This trend indicates that quick commerce adoption is no longer limited to large metros, with smaller cities increasingly embracing instant delivery for a wider range of needs.

Speed and Timing Shape Shopping Behaviour

Delivery speed continued to be a major draw for consumers, with select orders—from instant noodles to smartphones—being delivered within minutes. The data also revealed clear time-based shopping patterns, with peak demand observed during morning hours and early evenings.

Quick Commerce Becomes a Household Habit

Overall, the 2025 analysis reflects how quick commerce is becoming embedded in everyday household routines. What began as a convenience-led solution for urgent purchases is increasingly being used for planned, high-value and lifestyle shopping across urban and emerging markets.
