Amazon India has appointed two public relations firms to oversee its corporate and consumer communications mandates after a competitive review process, according to sources familiar with the development.
The ecommerce company has awarded its corporate and operations communications portfolio to Weber Shandwick. The mandate will span sustainability and CSR initiatives, workplace communications, executive visibility, public policy, issues management, and Amazon Pay, an inside source confirmed.
Avian WE will continue to handle Amazon India’s consumer public relations mandate, maintaining its role in driving brand and marketplace communications.
The decision follows a pitch process that reportedly included as many as eight PR agencies, among them incumbent partners Adfactors PR and Burson. Prime Video and Amazon Web Services were not included in the review.
The move marks a significant consolidation of Amazon India’s communications structure and is understood to be one of the larger PR mandate realignments in the market this year.
