Air India has appointed Senjam Raj Sekhar as its Global Head of Communications, he announced via LinkedIn.
In the post, he described Air India as “more than just the flag carrier of the country” and “an enduring emblem of India’s glorious aviation heritage.”
He noted that under the stewardship of the Tata Group, the airline is on a transformative journey that seeks to honour its legacy while evolving into a world-class global carrier with an Indian identity.
“Stepping into this role at such a defining juncture in Air India's transformation is an honour and a responsibility that I value deeply. I look forward to working with the exceptional communications team to tell the Air India story as it charts its path to rank among the world's finest carriers,” Sekhar said.
Sekhar brings over two decades of experience in corporate communications and brand leadership. Prior to joining Air India, he served as Head – Global Communications at Mobile Premier League for five years.
Over the course of his career, he has held key communications roles at Flipkart, Vedanta Resources Limited, Bharti Enterprises and Samsung, among others.
The appointment comes alongside a leadership transition within the communications function. Partha Ghosh, previously Global Head of Communications at Air India, has been elevated to Advisor to the CEO.
In his new role, Ghosh will report to Campbell Wilson and continue to support the airline’s ongoing transformation efforts.
“I’m happy to share that I am moving into a new role as Advisor to the CEO. I will be reporting to Campbell Wilson and I look forward to working with him as Air India continues its transformation journey. My best wishes to the new Corp Comms head, Senjam Raj Sekhar, and the team, as they shape the next chapter under his leadership,” Ghosh stated.
The leadership changes come at a time when Air India is undertaking a wide-ranging overhaul spanning fleet modernisation, service upgrades, branding and global expansion, as it aims to reclaim its position among the world’s leading airlines.
