Zee Entertainment UK has launched its flagship Hindi general entertainment channel, Zee TV, as a live free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel on Samsung TV Plus across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, marking a major expansion of its European distribution footprint.
The launch makes Zee TV available in the region for the first time with round-the-clock German subtitles, enabling German-speaking audiences to access the channel’s programming alongside South Asian viewers. The channel will carry a mix of drama series, reality shows and family entertainment.
First Hindi GEC in the region with 24/7 German subtitles
Zee said the subtitling initiative is aimed at broadening the channel’s appeal beyond the South Asian diaspora and reducing language barriers, particularly for second- and third-generation viewers as well as local audiences interested in Indian content.
The move builds on Zee’s existing presence in the region through Zee One and its streaming platform Zee5, both of which are already available in German-speaking markets.
Samsung TV Plus, Samsung’s free, ad-supported streaming service, offers live television channels and on-demand content without a subscription across Samsung smart TVs, Galaxy smartphones and Smart Monitors.
Zee calls launch a “defining moment” in global strategy
Commenting on the development, Amit Goenka, President, International and Digital Businesses, Zee Entertainment, said the launch represents a strategic milestone for the company’s global ambitions.
“Zee TV Germany is a flagship launch and a defining moment in our global journey to make entertainment truly borderless. This kind of move is not just unprecedented, it’s essential to meet viewers where they are. By going live on Samsung TV Plus with 24/7 German subtitles, we are breaking language barriers and setting a new international benchmark for FAST streaming,” Goenka said.
“As a content and tech media powerhouse, we will continue to reach our audiences in every possible way, accessible, and innovative. This is about creating cultural bridges, leading the FAST revolution, and shaping the future of global entertainment with global partners in technology – Samsung,” he added.
Samsung TV Plus highlights growing partnership
Benedict Frey, Country Lead, DACH and BeNeLux, Samsung TV Plus, said the launch strengthens the platform’s South Asian entertainment offering in the region.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Zee Entertainment to grow our content offering in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland with the launch of flagship Zee TV on Samsung TV Plus. This addition strengthens our existing portfolio of Zee channels already available on the platform and brings even more premium South Asian entertainment to our customers,” Frey said.
“Making this content accessible with live German subtitles is a meaningful step in serving diverse audiences across the region and enriching the viewing experience for all,” he added.
Ninth Zee channel in Europe
Zee TV is now available to viewers in Germany on Samsung TV Plus on channel number 4210. With this rollout, the channel becomes Zee’s ninth television offering in Europe, adding to its linear and FAST channel portfolio across the continent.
The expansion underscores the growing role of FAST platforms in international content distribution, as broadcasters increasingly look to reach fragmented audiences through free, digital-first viewing environments.
