Zee Entertainment Enterprises has appointed Aparna Ramachandran as executive vice president and head of network digital – central, strengthening its leadership team as the broadcaster sharpens its focus on digital content and platform expansion.

Ramachandran assumed the role in January 2026 and will be based in Mumbai, the company said.

Mandate to drive digital strategy and originals

In her new position, Ramachandran will be responsible for steering digital strategy and content development across Zee’s central portfolio. Her mandate includes expanding original programming, deepening platform partnerships and accelerating content creation tailored for streaming audiences.

The move comes as broadcasters increasingly prioritise digital-first formats to capture evolving viewer consumption patterns across OTT platforms.

Five-year stint at Balaji Telefilms

Prior to joining Zee, Ramachandran spent five years at Balaji Telefilms, where she most recently served as head of digital originals.

During her tenure, she led the development and creative supervision of multiple shows across leading streaming platforms. Several of these titles featured in Ormax Media’s most-watched lists, underscoring their strong audience traction.

Senior creative roles across OTT platforms

Before Balaji Telefilms, Ramachandran held senior creative leadership roles at Viacom18 and Viu.

At Viacom18, she served as senior creative director at Voot, playing a key role in shaping the platform’s original content slate. At Viu, she led the development of multiple original series in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, contributing to the platform’s regional expansion strategy.

Career spanning television and digital formats

Earlier in her career, Ramachandran spent a significant period at FremantleMedia, working across scripted, reality and digital-first formats for Indian television.

She began her professional journey as a content producer across broadcast and digital platforms before transitioning into creative leadership roles that spanned OTT, television and short-form content.

With her appointment, Zee Entertainment aims to accelerate its digital growth strategy and strengthen its position in India’s increasingly competitive streaming and content ecosystem.
