Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) is preparing to introduce the globally recognised game show franchise Wheel of Fortune to Indian audiences. The Indian edition of the long-running format will be hosted by actor Akshay Kumar and will air on Sony Entertainment Television, with simultaneous streaming on Sony LIV.
The show has been licensed from Highgate Entertainment, LLC, and is being produced for SPNI by Frames Production Company. Known for its international success across multiple markets, Wheel of Fortune will be positioned as a prime-time offering with a strong focus on viewer engagement.
Integrated television and digital rollout planned
SPNI plans to deploy the format through an integrated broadcast and digital strategy, leveraging its television network alongside its streaming platform. The Indian adaptation will feature interactive components, including a play-along option on Sony LIV, allowing viewers to participate in the game in real time.
The launch further strengthens Sony Entertainment Television’s portfolio of international reality and game show formats, as the network continues to bring globally established intellectual properties to Indian screens.
