Ram Gopalakrishnan has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Vadilal International, marking his return to India after nearly two decades of experience in the US consumer goods industry.

Gopalakrishnan announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post, describing the move as a “new chapter” in his career. He also reflected on his longstanding association with the Vadilal brand, which he knew while growing up in Bombay.

Gopalakrishnan brings around two decades of experience across leading consumer goods companies, including Procter & Gamble (P&G), Clorox and Nestlé. His experience spans brand building and consumer businesses across global markets.

His appointment comes as Vadilal continues to expand its international presence, particularly among Indian consumers and the wider diaspora.

Speaking about the move, Gopalakrishnan highlighted Vadilal’s nearly 120-year history and its strong consumer connect as key factors behind his decision to join the company. He said his focus will be on helping build Vadilal into a global, world-class ice cream brand of Indian origin.

In his new role, Gopalakrishnan will work with Vadilal’s international team, which operates across multiple global markets.

He also thanked the Vadilal board and Accord team for their trust, while acknowledging the mentors, colleagues and family members who supported his professional journey.

The appointment brings together Gopalakrishnan’s experience with global consumer brands and Vadilal’s longstanding presence in the Indian ice cream market as the company looks to strengthen its international footprint.
