Umang Vohra has stepped down as Managing Director and Global Chief Executive Officer of Cipla, marking the end of a 10-year leadership journey at the pharmaceutical firm.
Achin Gupta has taken over as MD and GCEO effective April 1, 2026, for a five-year term. He previously served as Global Chief Operating Officer and was named MD & GCEO Designate earlier this year.
Vohra, who had been at the helm since 2016, shared a message on LinkedIn expressing gratitude for his time at Cipla, highlighting the people, purpose, and experiences that shaped his tenure.
Having joined Cipla in 2015 as Global Chief Financial and Strategy Officer, Vohra was elevated to the top role within a year. During his leadership, he steered the company through a phase of strategic transformation and expansion.
Before Cipla, Vohra spent nearly 14 years at Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, and also held roles at Eicher Motors and PepsiCo.
