Smarten Power Systems has appointed Ranjit Singh as its chief operating officer (COO), effective August 1, 2026. The appointment was approved by the company's board of directors at its meeting on July 14.

Before taking on the new role, Singh served as consultant–vice president, operations at Smarten, where he worked on strengthening operational processes, improving manufacturing efficiencies and supporting key strategic initiatives. As COO, he will oversee the company's end-to-end operations, manufacturing, supply chain, quality systems and strategic execution to support its expansion in India and international markets.

During his tenure as consultant–VP operations, Singh led the transition of Smarten's in-house battery manufacturing facility at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, following the company's IPO. He oversaw the handover of the manufacturing operations and established the processes, systems and teams required for stable in-house production. He will now be responsible for operations across the company's existing manufacturing facilities while leading the operationalisation of its upcoming plant.

The appointment comes as Smarten continues to expand its manufacturing capabilities and product portfolio amid growing demand for power backup and renewable energy solutions. The company said it is focused on building a stronger operational framework to support sustainable growth, faster execution and improved customer value.

Commenting on the appointment, Rajnish Sharma, whole-time director and chief executive officer of Smarten Power Systems, said, "As Smarten enters its next phase of growth, strengthening our leadership team is key to scaling our operations and delivering long-term value. Ranjit brings deep operational expertise, extensive manufacturing experience and a proven track record of building high-performing operations. Having already contributed significantly as vice president operations, he understands our business well. We are confident his leadership will further strengthen our operational excellence and support our strategic ambitions."

On his appointment, Singh said, "I am honoured to take on this responsibility at such an exciting stage in Smarten's journey. The company has built a strong foundation and is well positioned for its next stage of expansion. My focus will be on strengthening manufacturing excellence, streamlining operations, enhancing quality systems, improving supply chain agility and fostering a culture of continuous improvement."

Singh brings more than 52 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, product development and operations across the power electronics, telecom power and renewable energy sectors. Prior to joining Smarten, he held leadership positions at Vrinda Nano Technologies, Agmetal India, Delta Power Solutions India, Ascom (India), Benning SMC Power Systems, Bhurji Electronics, JCT Electronics, UPTRON Powertronics, USHA Rectifier Corporation India and Eastern Electronics.
