Siddhartha Butalia has joined flydubai as Senior Vice President – Corporate Brand, Marketing & Communications, moving to the Dubai-based airline after a two-decade career with the Tata Group.
Butalia began his new assignment at flydubai this month and will oversee the airline’s corporate brand, marketing, public relations, internal communications and brand management functions globally. His mandate includes strengthening flydubai’s reputation and stakeholder engagement, while aligning its communications with broader business growth objectives and geopolitical considerations.
Butalia joins flydubai following his tenure as CMO at Air India Express and AirAsia India, a position he had held since 2019. Over the course of his 20-year association with the Tata Group, he worked across brand, marketing, communications and corporate affairs, including as a Tata Administrative Services (TAS) officer. His experience within the group covered brands in both India and Europe, including Tetley, the Taj Group of Hotels, AirAsia and Air India Express.
During his time in Tata’s aviation businesses, Butalia was part of the leadership team during a period of significant transformation following the Tata Group’s privatisation and consolidation of its aviation operations.
At Air India Express, he was involved in the airline’s brand revamp, as well as initiatives around loyalty, communications and positioning as the carrier expanded its network within the Tata Group’s aviation portfolio.
In his new role, Butalia will take charge of flydubai’s corporate brand, marketing and communications agenda as the airline continues to expand its international footprint. The carrier currently operates a network of more than 125 destinations across 56 countries, spanning Africa, Asia, the GCC and the Middle East, and Europe.
His appointment comes as flydubai advances its broader growth plans. The airline is expanding its fleet beyond 100 aircraft and has introduced a new cabin retrofit programme featuring lie-flat Business Class seats. It is scheduled to receive 11 additional aircraft in 2026, with further fleet expansion planned through the delivery of 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, followed by 150 Airbus A321neos from 2031.
