Shweta Rajpal Kohli has joined Brahma AI as Senior Policy Advisor, where she will work with the company’s CEO and board on AI policy and responsible AI, while also serving on its Advisory Board. Kohli announced the development in a LinkedIn post.
With more than 25 years of experience spanning technology, public policy and media, Kohli said the current moment represents an unprecedented intersection of technology-building and governance. She noted that Brahma AI operates at this intersection as it develops an AI-native operating system for enterprise audiovisual content, with global anchor customers including Warner Bros, the NBA and Mayo Clinic.
Reflecting on her engagement with the company, Kohli said she was particularly inspired during her visit to Brahma AI’s London office earlier this year by the approach of CEO Prabhu Narasimhan and his team towards responsible AI. According to Kohli, the company treats consent, authenticity and provenance as central elements of its technology, with policy considerations being built into the product from the outset rather than addressed later.
Kohli described this as a “policy-first” approach to building, highlighting the importance of embedding responsible AI considerations into technology development at an early stage.
In her LinkedIn post, Kohli also pointed to her ongoing work through Startup Policy Forum (SPF) and New Economy Collective (NEC), where she works with founders, investors, global AI companies, governments and regulators on issues surrounding trust, rights and responsible AI.
“The rules for AI are still being written,” Kohli said in her post, adding that she looks forward to contributing to the conversation alongside Brahma AI. She also expressed her gratitude to Narasimhan and the team and said she was excited to partner with them on the journey ahead.
Kohli currently serves as President & CEO of Startup Policy Forum and Managing Partner at New Economy Collective. Her previous experience includes roles at Sequoia Capital India & Southeast Asia, Peak XV, Salesforce, Uber and NDTV among others.
