YAAP Digital has appointed industry veteran Raj Nayak as its Chairman & Managing Director following the untimely demise of founder, Chairman & Managing Director Dr. Atul Hegde on 7 July 2026.
The appointment marks a leadership transition for the technology-led, digital-first marketing company, with the Board unanimously selecting Nayak to lead its next phase of growth. The decision comes in recognition of his long-standing association with Dr. Hegde and his involvement with YAAP as a member of its Advisory Board over the past two years.
Dr. Hegde founded YAAP and built it into a technology-driven marketing organisation focused on innovation, entrepreneurship and client value. While his passing leaves a significant void, the company said its established leadership team and strategic direction provide a strong foundation for the future.
Nayak brings over three decades of experience in India's media and communications industry. During his career, he has held leadership positions at STAR TV, NDTV Media and Viacom18, and has also served as President of The Advertising Club and the International Advertising Association (IAA) India Chapter. He has additionally been a Board Member of the Media Research Users Council (MRUC) and the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF).
Commenting on his appointment, Nayak said he accepted the role to ensure that Dr. Hegde's legacy and vision continue. Having known Hegde for nearly 25 years, he described him as both a respected industry leader and a close friend.
"I had stepped away from corporate life to pursue entrepreneurship, but Atul's sudden passing compelled me to accept this responsibility to ensure that his legacy remains intact and his vision is carried forward," Nayak said. He added that his focus would be on supporting the leadership team, preserving the company's values and building on the strong foundation created by Hegde.
Sudhir Menon, Promoter of The YAAP Group, welcomed Nayak's appointment, saying his long-standing relationship with both the company and Dr. Hegde makes him well-positioned to lead the organisation into its next chapter.
With Nayak at the helm, YAAP aims to continue its growth journey while staying true to the vision and culture established by its late founder.
