Digital payments major Paytm has appointed Saujanya Shrivastava as Chief Executive Officer for new initiatives, strengthening its leadership bench as the company looks to build and scale its next set of growth engines.

In his new role, Shrivastava will be responsible for driving strategy, innovation, and execution across Paytm’s emerging businesses. His mandate will focus on translating new ideas into scalable, sustainable business verticals that can contribute meaningfully to the company’s long-term growth.

Extensive leadership experience in travel-tech and digital businesses

Shrivastava joins Paytm after spending more than a decade in senior leadership roles at MakeMyTrip and Goibibo, where he managed several high-impact and revenue-critical businesses. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer overseeing flights, holidays, Gulf markets, and B2B segments.

Earlier, he held roles including Chief Operating Officer for the flights strategic business unit and Gulf operations, as well as Chief Business Officer for flights and growth products. These roles gave him deep exposure to operating large-scale, high-volume consumer platforms and driving growth across competitive digital markets.

Background across insurance, e-commerce, FMCG and banking

Before his stint in travel-tech, Shrivastava served as Chief Marketing Officer at Bharti AXA Life Insurance, where he led brand strategy, digital initiatives, online sales, and customer engagement.

He also played a formative role in India’s early e-commerce journey as Senior Vice President and business head at Future Group’s Futurebazaar, at a time when online retail was still nascent in the country.

Shrivastava’s earlier career includes senior roles at PepsiCo, where he served as Vice President, Marketing, leading initiatives such as the launch of the Pepsi Slim Can and strengthening the brand’s association with cricket. He has also worked at Citibank as Assistant Vice President, Marketing, and held brand and sales leadership positions at Cadbury India.

Focus on execution as Paytm looks to its next phase

An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, Shrivastava brings nearly three decades of experience across brand-building, digital innovation, and operational execution.

The appointment signals Paytm’s intent to back its next phase of growth with seasoned leadership, as the company seeks to convert new initiatives into robust, revenue-generating businesses amid an increasingly competitive fintech landscape.
