ONDC names Vibhor Jain as CEO, moves to strengthen execution phase

The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has appointed Vibhor Jain as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, confirming his leadership after a period in an interim role.

Jain, who earlier served as Chief Operating Officer, took over as acting CEO following the departure of founding chief Thampy Koshy. His formal appointment reflects ONDC’s intent to bring more structured and centralised leadership as it enters a new growth phase.

With over 18 years of experience spanning entrepreneurship and consulting, Jain has played a key role in developing ONDC’s operational and governance framework. His elevation is expected to ensure continuity while sharpening execution as the network expands its interoperable digital commerce ecosystem.

The leadership transition comes at a crucial time for ONDC, which is now shifting its focus from ecosystem building to driving adoption, increasing transactions, and improving network efficiency at scale. Strengthened leadership is likely to be critical as the platform navigates an increasingly competitive digital commerce landscape.
