Myntra CMO Sunder Balasubramanian exits after nearly four years

Balasubramanian joined Myntra as CMO in November 2022; his next move is yet to be announced.

Sunder Balasubramanian, chief marketing officer at Myntra, has announced his exit from the fashion and lifestyle e-commerce platform after nearly four years in the role.

In a LinkedIn post, Balasubramanian said this week marks his last at Myntra. While he expressed excitement about what lies ahead, he said his next move is “a story for later”.

Looking back at his tenure, Balasubramanian highlighted the work undertaken by the Myntra team, including the challenges it chose to address, the culture of ownership it built and its focus on raising the bar each year.

He also thanked Myntra’s leadership team, along with the marketing, customer, creative and communications teams, for their contribution during his stint. He specifically acknowledged the Myntra SPIRIT team for its collaboration and camaraderie.

Balasubramanian joined Myntra as CMO in November 2022. Before this, he was head – international marketing at Coupang in Seoul, a position he held from June 2021 to November 2022.

Prior to Coupang, he served as head – marketing at Disney+ Hotstar between February 2019 and April 2021.

Balasubramanian spent more than 13 years with Colgate-Palmolive, where he held multiple roles spanning sales, shopper development and marketing. He joined the company as district manager in 2005 and subsequently held positions including direct trade manager, shopper development manager, marketing manager, head – toothbrush, mouthwash & personal care marketing, and category head – toothpaste marketing.

He began his career in advertising, working as an account executive at Goldwire Communications from June 2000 to September 2001. He then joined McCann Worldgroup as a senior account executive, a role he held from October 2001 to April 2003.
