Moksh Chopra, who has spent the last 16 years with Yum! Brands, has been appointed to lead Taco Bell’s business across India, Sri Lanka and Kuwait. Chopra will be responsible for driving the brand’s strategy, business growth and operational excellence across the three markets.
Chopra most recently served as General Manager of KFC India, where he played a key role in strengthening the business fundamentals and shaping its long-term growth agenda. During his tenure, KFC India grew its market share to around 27%, doubled its restaurant footprint and operating profit, delivered strong system sales growth and improved unit economics. He also contributed to enhancing consumer and employee experiences across the business.
Commenting on the appointment, Scott Mezvinsky, CEO, KFC Global, said that developing leaders who can build careers across Yum! and its brands is one of KFC’s key strengths. He credited Chopra for being a driving force behind KFC India’s recent growth, citing his leadership style and operational and strategic expertise.
In his new role, Chopra will focus on accelerating Taco Bell’s growth across the region by leveraging learnings from KFC India, working closely with franchise partners and local teams, and strengthening the brand’s business performance.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Taco Bell’s growth in the region. KFC India has been an incredible part of my journey, and the achievements we’ve made together are a testament to our people and partners. I look forward to bringing those learnings to Taco Bell and contributing to its next phase of growth,” said Chopra.
Taco Bell is a key growth engine for Yum! Brands in the region and has set ambitious growth plans for its markets. Chopra’s appointment comes as the brand looks to build on its existing momentum and unlock further growth opportunities across India, Sri Lanka and Kuwait.
Meanwhile, the process to appoint a permanent successor for Chopra at KFC India is underway. Until then, Aman Lal, Chief People, Culture and Operations Officer, KFC India & Partner Countries, will take on the role of Interim General Manager.
Lal, who brings extensive organisational and business experience, will oversee the transition and ensure continuity while keeping KFC India focused on its key priorities.
Mezvinsky added that Lal’s understanding of the KFC India business and experience within the organisation would help maintain the momentum achieved by the business during the transition.
