Manish Kothari, Group President and Head – Commercial Bank at Kotak Mahindra Bank, will step down from the bank on September 30, 2026, following his resignation, the lender said in a regulatory filing.

Kothari has been with Kotak Mahindra Bank for 31 years. Following his departure, the bank has initiated a planned transition and integrated the Commercial Bank portfolio under his leadership into its Retail and Institutional business segments.

In his resignation letter to Ashok Vaswani, MD and CEO, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Kothari said he had discussed his plans to pursue opportunities outside the bank several months ago, including the possibility of an entrepreneurial venture. He added that he had been working with the bank’s whole-time directors and business heads to ensure a smooth transition of his responsibilities.

Kothari said his last working day would be September 30, 2026, in line with his earlier discussions with the bank.

Reflecting on his three-decade-long association with Kotak, Kothari said 31 years was long enough for an organisation to become part of one’s identity. He described the bank as more than a workplace and recalled witnessing its evolution from an NBFC into a diversified financial services group.

Kothari said he was stepping down for personal reasons and thanked founder Uday Kotak, Ashok Vaswani and his colleagues for their support throughout his tenure.
