ICICI Bank has approved the re-appointment of Sandeep Bakhshi as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for an additional two-year term, according to a regulatory filing made by the bank.
The board has cleared Bakhshi’s continuation in the role for the period from October 4, 2026, to October 3, 2028. His current term is scheduled to conclude on October 3, 2026.
Board extends tenure of executive director
In the same decision, the board has also approved a two-year extension for Ajay Kumar Gupta as Executive Director, effective from November 27, 2026, to November 26, 2028, following the completion of his existing term.
The move underscores the bank’s focus on maintaining leadership stability at a time when the financial services sector continues to navigate regulatory changes, digital transformation and evolving customer expectations.
Over three decades with ICICI Group
Bakhshi has been serving as Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank since October 15, 2018. Prior to his elevation, he was a whole-time director and chief operating officer at the bank.
A veteran of the ICICI Group, Bakhshi has spent more than 30 years with the organisation and has held senior roles across several group entities, including ICICI Limited, ICICI Lombard General Insurance, ICICI Bank and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance.
