Mirchi, part of the Times Group, has appointed Chandan Das as vice president and business director, entrusting him with end-to-end profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for five radio stations across Karnataka.

Leadership Transition from JioStar

Das joins Mirchi after an over 11-year stint with JioStar, where he most recently served as director – digital and TV revenue generation for the southern region. A seasoned media professional with more than a decade of experience in driving revenue growth and sales leadership within large media ecosystems, Das has also held senior roles at Hindustan Times Media and Info Edge.

Mandate for Integrated, Cross-Platform Growth

Announcing his appointment on LinkedIn, Das outlined a mandate centred on integrated, platform-led growth across Mirchi’s expanding media and entertainment ecosystem.

“In this role, I’m focused on driving platform-led, integrated growth across content, digital monetisation, MPing (Mirchi’s data-led digital audio & video monetisation platform enabling targeted, measurable brand solutions), social ecosystems, brand partnerships and experiential activations — building scalable solutions where content, commerce and communities intersect,” Das said.

Spotlight on MPing and Digital Expansion

The emphasis on Mirchi’s proprietary MPing platform underscores the company’s strategic push beyond traditional radio broadcasting towards a diversified audio, digital and experiential offerings portfolio.

Elaborating on the approach that will guide his tenure, Das said, “Having spent over a decade leading businesses within large media ecosystems, I believe sustainable growth today is driven by consumer insight, data-led decisioning, cross-platform monetisation and long-term partner value creation. That lens will guide how we build, scale and innovate.”

Acknowledging Leadership Support

Das also expressed gratitude to Mirchi’s leadership team, including Yatish Mehrishi, Preeti Nihalani, M N Hussain and Gayatri Kakkar, for the confidence placed in him as he takes on the new role.
