Billboard India has appointed Preeti Nayyar as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), marking a significant leadership addition as the music media platform looks to strengthen its presence in the country's rapidly evolving music ecosystem.
Launched in partnership with Other Side Ventures Pvt. Ltd., Billboard India said Nayyar will lead the company's business operations, P&L management, revenue growth, strategic partnerships, and industry relations. In her new role, she will be responsible for driving the next phase of growth for Billboard India while building stronger connections between artists, fans, industry stakeholders, and brands.
A media and entertainment veteran with more than 25 years of experience, Nayyar has held leadership positions across print, radio, television, movie marketing, and the music industry. Her career spans organisations such as Universal Music Group, Disney, Radio Mirchi, and the India Today Group.
Most recently, Nayyar spent nearly nine years at Universal Music Group, where she built and scaled UMG For Brands, the company's culture and music marketing division, across India and Asia. During her tenure, she worked on partnerships that brought together artists, music, culture, and brands.
Her appointment comes as Billboard India seeks to establish itself as a key platform for documenting, celebrating, and amplifying Indian music across languages, genres, and regions. Through editorial content, charts, rankings, awards, live experiences, and industry initiatives, the platform aims to elevate Indian artists on the global stage while contributing to the growth of the country's music industry.
Commenting on the appointment, Priyanka Khimani, who led Billboard's entry into India, said, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to have Preeti take the reins as COO. I’ve watched her quietly build a stellar career across different facets of media. Her knowledge and instincts in navigating brands and revenue partnerships, along with operational insights, is a tremendous asset. She understood the vision for Billboard India from the word go, and the team is delighted to be launching under her leadership.”
Speaking about her new role, Preeti Nayyar said, “India's music industry is undergoing a remarkable transformation, with artists, audiences, and businesses contributing to an ecosystem that is more vibrant and influential than ever before. Billboard is one of the most trusted and iconic music brands in the world, and the opportunity to build and grow its India chapter at such a defining moment is incredibly exciting. I look forward to working closely with Priyanka, our partners, artists, labels, and the wider industry to create a platform that celebrates music culture, drives meaningful industry conversations, and delivers value for artists, fans, and brands alike.”
