Avinash Kaul has announced his departure from Network18, bringing to a close a nearly 12-year stint with the organisation, where he most recently served as CEO – Broadcast & Publishing and Managing Director of A+E Networks | TV18.

In a LinkedIn post, Kaul expressed gratitude to colleagues across the company, making a special mention of support staff whose contributions often go unnoticed.

Kaul joined Network18 in 2014 and played a key role in expanding its broadcast footprint. From managing just three channels at the time of his entry, he went on to oversee a portfolio of 20 channels, along with a publishing division and an expanding connected TV presence. Under his leadership, the network grew into one of the country’s largest news ecosystems, spanning 20 channels across 16 languages and reaching over 700 million viewers annually.

With over 28 years of experience in the media industry, Kaul has held leadership roles at Bennett, Coleman and Co. Ltd., Sahara One Entertainment & Media Limited, NDTV Media, and Star India Pvt Ltd prior to his tenure at Network18.

Beyond his executive roles, Kaul has contributed to industry bodies including the Media Research Users Council, the Broadcast Audience Research Council, and The Advertising Club, reflecting his involvement in shaping conversations around media measurement and marketing.

While he has not disclosed details of his next move, Kaul hinted at entering a new phase in his career, describing it as “the next mountain.”
