Seasoned advertising professional Jitender Dabas is poised to join BBDO Group India as its Chief Executive Officer, according to multiple industry sources. The development marks one of the most significant leadership moves at Omnicom Advertising India (OAI) since the network completed its acquisition of rival agency IPG late last year and rolled out its new organisational structure.
The BBDO Group in India now includes legacy agencies such as BBDO India, Mudra and Ulka — all aligned under the larger Omnicom Advertising India umbrella following the merger.
From Cheil X to BBDO
Dabas, who joined Cheil X as its CEO in May 2025, is expected to take up the leadership of the BBDO network in the coming weeks. Cheil X operates as an independent full-service agency under the Cheil South West Asia (SWA) group, focusing on clients beyond Samsung’s business.
Industry insiders describe the move as a key appointment as OAI positions itself for growth in a consolidated market. “This move underscores how top creative talent is being strategically redeployed within the Omnicom fold to sharpen competitive edge,” one source familiar with the developments told afaqs!.
Veteran with Diverse Agency Experience
Jitender Dabas brings over two decades of experience in advertising, having worked across major networks including McCann Worldgroup, JWT, Grey, and Draft FCB Ulka. He joined Cheil X after serving in senior leadership roles, where his expertise spanned strategy, operations and creative effectiveness.
Dabas’s tenure at McCann in India is widely recognised, and he is respected within the industry for his strategic insight and leadership across client portfolios spanning global and domestic brands.
Strategic Implications for Omnicom Advertising India
The leadership shift comes at a time when Omnicom is realigning its agency brands in India following its acquisition of IPG. The reintegration of legacy names such as Ulka and Mudra under the BBDO banner reflects broader consolidation trends in the advertising sector.
With this latest appointment, industry watchers say Omnicom Advertising India is signalling a renewed focus on strengthening top-tier leadership to drive growth and creativity across its portfolio of agencies.
