Interbrand has partnered with JSW Greentech to develop the brand strategy, positioning and visual identity for Ampstar, its new electric commercial vehicle brand.
Ampstar marks JSW Group’s entry into sustainable commercial mobility, with JSW Greentech developing electric buses and trucks designed and built for Indian operating conditions. The company is also working towards an integrated electric commercial vehicle ecosystem spanning technology, localisation, manufacturing and customer solutions.
The vehicles will be designed, developed and manufactured in India, with Ampstar aligned with the broader “Make in India” and “Viksit Bharat” ambitions.
Interbrand’s mandate was to create a distinct identity for Ampstar that moves beyond traditional commercial vehicle category codes and makes the shift to electric mobility more practical and accessible for businesses.
The agency’s brand strategy was informed by conversations with drivers, owner-drivers and fleet operators. These insights led to the positioning “An all-in partner for the bold”, designed to position Ampstar as more than a vehicle manufacturer and reflect JSW Greentech’s wider focus on supporting businesses through the transition to sustainable mobility.
The brand name Ampstar is built around the thought “Amping up performance for businesses, and the country.” Its visual identity combines a technology-led, futuristic design language with an approachable character, reflecting movement, growth and the potential of electric commercial mobility.
Ashish Mishra, CEO, Interbrand India & South Asia, said the commercial mobility sector is undergoing a fundamental shift and that brands will need to build confidence around the transition to electric vehicles. He added that Ampstar aims to combine JSW’s technological capabilities with an understanding of the practical requirements of businesses adopting electric mobility.
Ampstar is part of JSW Greentech’s broader plans to establish an electric commercial mobility ecosystem in India. The company is developing electric buses and trucks alongside manufacturing and R&D capabilities, including a planned greenfield facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
