Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced the successful completion of international para-athlete Chandeep Singh's 7,000+ km cross-country expedition under its 'Samarth by Hyundai' initiative. Singh, an electrical engineer and para-athlete, drove a specially modified Hyundai CRETA entirely with his feet from Jammu to Kanyakumari and back, securing a place in the Golden Book of Records for the longest foot-driven vehicle expedition across India.
The expedition, which covered diverse terrains and weather conditions, was aimed at highlighting the importance of accessible mobility and demonstrating how adaptive vehicle technology can enable greater independence for persons with disabilities.
According to the company, the specially adapted Hyundai CRETA was designed to support Singh throughout the journey, enabling him to complete one of India's longest cross-country drives by a para-athlete.
Commenting on the achievement, Virat Khullar, Head of Marketing at Hyundai Motor India Limited, said the initiative reflects the company's belief that mobility should empower individuals and create opportunities. He added that Singh's achievement showcases resilience and determination while reinforcing Hyundai's commitment to building a more inclusive and accessible mobility ecosystem through its 'Samarth by Hyundai' programme.
Sharing his experience, Chandeep Singh said the expedition was about more than setting a record. He noted that the journey was intended to demonstrate that determination, accessible technology and the right support can help overcome barriers. Singh also credited the specially modified Hyundai CRETA for performing reliably across challenging terrains and thanked Hyundai and its dealership network for supporting the expedition.
