Google has introduced Ask Google Pay, a Gemini-powered AI assistant integrated into the Google Pay app, enabling users to receive personalised insights into their spending, savings and financial habits through natural-language conversations.
Announced in a company blog post, the feature allows users to ask questions about their transactions, monthly expenses and savings using either text or voice. It is available in 10 Indian languages, making the AI-powered experience more accessible to a wider user base.
The assistant analyses a user's Google Pay transaction history and, where available, linked credit report information to provide tailored financial insights. It can identify spending trends, flag recurring expenses and suggest areas where users could potentially reduce their expenditure.
Beyond transaction analysis, Ask Google Pay also serves as an educational tool by explaining financial concepts such as systematic investment plans (SIPs), credit scores, compound interest and different tax regimes. Google said the feature is designed to help users better understand their finances while ensuring they retain control over their personal financial data.
In addition to the AI rollout, Google has expanded its Flex credit offering through a partnership with SBI Card. Users can now apply for the Google Pay Flex SBI Card directly within the app. Built on the RuPay network, the card offers reward points known as Stars and provides an option to convert outstanding balances into EMIs.
