Birla Studios has partnered with Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) to introduce ‘Reel Se Real Star’, a mobile-first platform aimed at discovering acting talent across India. Designed as a digital-first initiative, the platform allows participants to submit audition videos via app and web—removing the need for industry connections or physical access to casting calls.

The initiative seeks to break traditional barriers such as geography and limited access, opening up opportunities for aspiring actors from across the country. Users can upload their audition clips directly, with shortlisted entries to be reviewed by filmmakers and industry professionals. Final winners will be given a chance to feature in an upcoming film project.

Ananya Birla, founder and chairperson of Birla Studios, highlighted the intent behind the platform, stating that the initiative aims to bridge the long-standing gap between talent and opportunity by leveraging digital infrastructure and wide network reach.

Abhijit Kishore, CEO of Vodafone Idea, added that the platform brings the audition process directly to users’ hands, enabling participation from both urban centres and remote regions. He emphasised that the goal is to ensure talent discovery is no longer restricted by location.

The programme blends open participation with guided evaluation, incorporating inputs from directors and creative experts. While registrations are currently open, the platform is expected to go live on the Vi app in the coming months.
