Nike ropes in Shubman Gill for global campaign promoting Mind footwear range

Indian batting star fronts brand’s neuroscience-led shoes focused on mental readiness and recovery

Nike has featured Indian cricketer Shubman Gill in its latest global campaign for the Nike Mind 001 mule and Mind 002 footwear, spotlighting the growing emphasis on mental conditioning alongside physical preparation in elite sport.

The new footwear line is positioned around the concept of the mind–body connection and is designed to support athletes during pre-competition routines and post-match recovery. According to the company, the shoes are informed by neuroscience research and use underfoot stimulation to activate sensory receptors associated with awareness and focus.

Focus on mental readiness in sport

Nike said the campaign seeks to draw attention to the role of psychological preparedness in performance, an area that is increasingly shaping modern training philosophies across professional sport.

Speaking about the association, Gill highlighted the importance of mental strength in competitive environments.

“As athletes, we know how much of our performance comes down to what’s happening in our mind, just as much as our physical training. Growing up, I have worn plenty of Nike gear across different stages of my sport, Nike’s commitment to innovation and quality is unmatched. It’s great to see them creating innovations that support not just the physical demands of athletes, but the mental side as well,” he said.

Nike India on Gill’s selection

Tarundeep Singh, general manager, Nike India, said Gill’s approach to the game aligned closely with the philosophy behind the new product range.

“Shubman brings a mindset that defines Nike Mind – sharp, disciplined and locked in when it matters most. He is an athlete who understands the power of being present, and that makes him a natural fit for this innovation. India’s athlete and sporting community continues to evolve at pace, and we love to see more and more of our athletes on the global stage,” Singh said.

Second global campaign appearance

The latest campaign marks Gill’s second appearance in a global Nike promotion in recent months. He was earlier featured in the brand’s iconic “Just Do It” campaign, underlining his rising stature beyond the cricket field.

Reflecting on his ongoing association with the sportswear major, Gill said the partnership had been built on shared values.

“I’m incredibly grateful for my partnership with Nike over the years. We share the same core values—authenticity, hard work, and the belief that sport has the power to inspire. I hope moments like these can help to inspire the next generation of Indian athletes to see it and believe it,” he said.
