In a move that underscores the growing role of artificial intelligence in sports consumption, Google India has partnered with the Board of Control for Cricket in India to make Google Search AI Mode an Official Premier Partner for the Indian Premier League 2026.
As part of the collaboration, AI-powered match insights will be integrated directly into live IPL broadcasts, while also being accessible to fans through Google Search. The initiative is designed to enhance how viewers engage with the game, offering deeper, real-time analysis in a more conversational format.
Devajit Saikia, Secretary of the BCCI, said the partnership marks a significant step in evolving the fan experience. He noted that the IPL has long been at the heart of Indian cricket and that integrating AI into Search will help fans connect more deeply with the sport by delivering enriched insights at scale.
Shekar Khosla, Vice President of Marketing at Google India, highlighted the IPL’s consistent dominance in Google’s Year in Search sports trends since 2020. He added that today’s cricket fans actively seek deeper narratives and data beyond the match itself. With AI Mode in Search, Google aims to serve this demand by helping fans stay closely connected to the game’s pulse, both on and off the field.
The partnership reflects a broader trend of technology platforms embedding AI into live sports ecosystems, as leagues and broadcasters look to create more immersive and personalised viewing experiences.
