Billboard has launched its India edition in partnership with Other Side Ventures, marking the global music media brand’s entry into one of the world’s largest and most diverse music markets.

Based in Mumbai, Billboard India will offer editorial coverage, charts, rankings, lists, awards and artist-led storytelling, with a focus on music across multiple Indian languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. The platform aims to chronicle developments across both the film music and independent music ecosystems.

The publication launches with legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja as its first cover star. The celebrated musician, who has composed music for over 1,500 films, is marking 50 years in the industry this year.

Speaking on the launch, Priyanka Khimani, media advisor and a key force behind Other Side Ventures, said India’s music growth story is being shaped by creators and audiences across regions and languages. She added that Ilaiyaraaja’s legacy and influence made him a fitting choice for Billboard India’s debut cover.

Mike Van, CEO of Billboard, said the company remains committed to celebrating music ecosystems and the artists, executives, trends and stories that define them. He noted that Billboard India represents an important step in that vision as India’s music industry and global diaspora continue to gain prominence and influence worldwide.

The India business will be led by Preeti Nayyar as chief operating officer and Mohini Chaudhuri as content strategy director. The leadership team also includes Amruta Ramesh as creative director and Vidya Sivalenka as charts lead.

With the launch, Billboard India aims to create a dedicated platform for India’s multilingual music culture, offering coverage that reflects the scale, diversity and growing global influence of the country’s music industry.
